This multicenter national study was set up in colaboration with the BGES and is conducted in a single blinded fashion, that is, the abdomen is covered with a second wound dressing covering the entire abdomen in such a way that the type of procedure is revealed neither to the patient nor to the nursing personnel. A package containing all study material including the wound dressing was sent to most members of the BGES.
